The Kansas was new for 2010 and still looks pretty good today. The boot has a leather upper that is virtually stitch-free, so durability should be pretty good even on rocky ground. A rubber rand around the toe and forefoot adds a little extra protection for rockier ground too. The upper offers good support for the foot and there is a waterproof lining. The sole unit has a decent pattern of lugs for general hill-walking on mixed terrain, plus a good degree of stiffness for rockier ground. Good cushioning takes the pain out of pounding down long rocky paths. Unlike the Meindl Burma, the Kansas sits closer to the ground, so you have a slightly better 'feel' when scrambling. Compared to the Meindl Burma the sole flex is a little softer too, which again helps with walking. A great boot if you prefer something a little less stiff than a Burma.
A superb boot at a good price for general hill and mountain walkers heading out in the UK or abroad.
